172. Iron Maiden / Infinite Dreams [Live] [Single]. 1989. 5/5.

Like the live single that was released before this (about 12 months before this), these songs were recorded on the Seventh Tour of a Seventh Tour and found their way onto the maiden England video that was released at the time. Some people were able to get the live CD that came with the sale of some of the VHS copies. Everyone else had to make do with these singles for their live fix from the tour.

The title track “Infinite Dreams” sounds even more awesome than its studio version, with Bruce doing amazing justice to it. It really is a brilliant version. Then like the other single, we are treated to two songs that deserve great live versions, and get them. “Killers” was performed by Bruce on his early tours with the band, but had fallen out of the set list in recent years. Here it is a tour de force, with Bruce charging through the song at a rampant speed, barely held in check by his band. Terrific. Then we get a brilliant and magnificent version of “Still Life”, again a song that had not had a live recorded version available before. And it does not disappoint, with all of the menace and darkness of the original song brought to life here in the live version as well.

As before, you can’t ask for much more from a single that to have three wonderful songs that you are happy to listen to again and again. Once again, Iron Maiden has delivered just that.

Rating: A joy to listen to at any time. 5/5
